Consultancy Services for Biodiversity Survey and Establishment of Monitoring Plan in Rusumo Project Area

The Rusumo Falls Hydroelectric Project (RFHP) is а joint development undertaken by the Governments of Burundi, Rwanda, and Tanzania. The purpose of the project is to generate electricity which will be distributed in the three countries. The executive agency is the Nile Equatorial Lakes Subsidiary Action Program (NELSAP) based in Kigali. The Project is financed through the World Bank.

Actual services provided by our staff within the assignment:

The main objective of the consultancy is to undertake а biodiversity survey in the area that will be permanently flooded by the dam upstream and after the dam downstream. In the survey, the biodiversity (fauna and flora) that will be affected is evaluated. An impact assessment, a biodiversity management plan and monitoring plan is prepared.
